LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE

Region VIII Associate Director, 2019 – present
•    Worked alongside Regional Director to provided oversight and support to the Regional Executive Committee (REC) to execute regional business and implement regional programs
•    Supported chapter presidents to develop and sustain local programs
•    Attended regular REC calls, submitted officer reports and tracked officer activity
•    Assumed the role of Regional Director when requested and assisted the REC where necessary 

Region VIII Programming Chair, 2019-Present
•    Organized the Regional Medical Education Conference (RMEC) that encompassed clinical sessions, professional workshops and research symposium 
•    Secured conference funding and regional revenue through medical education exhibit fair and sponsorship
•    Supported program development of Regional Leadership Institute (RLI) to promote leadership development for regional members

National Community Service Committee, Sub-committee Chair, Health Education and
Prevention Protocols, 2018-2019

●    Created national events geared to increase awareness and participation in the SNMA National Monthly Service Protocols
●    Supported regions and chapters to create projects and services aimed to decrease health disparities through health promotion

Chapter Co-President, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, 2018-2019
●    Developed a year-long agenda to include academic, community service and social programs
●    Directed large Executive Committee, held regular chapter meetings and provided updates to school administration
●    Guided chapter to support national initiative and implement regional and local protocols
●    Organized more than 25 community outreach, cultural competency, fundraising and professional development events 
●    Obtained grant funding to increase chapter budget for local programs and events
●    Maintained chapter records and submitted chapter documentation in accordance with national and regional guidelines

 

INSTITUTIONAL (NON-SNMA)
LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE

PCOM Cultural Competency Program, Founder and Director, 2018-2019

  • Curated novel, institution-based program designed to increase cultural humility, eliminate bias, target neglect and address health disparities in the health care system

  • Procured grant funding and managed a student-run program in direct collaboration with administrative offices to achieve program goals

  • Founded and organized the Cultural Humility in Medicine Program, an inaugural six-hour, multifaceted symposium with goal to explore social issues that fuel discrimination, bias, and neglect within the healthcare system

 

PCOM President’s Diversity Council, Board Member, 2018 – 2019

  • Served as a student member on the newly formed council by the PCOM President/CEO to focus on the institution’s diversity efforts on its graduate and medical education

  • Developed, recommended and advocated for diversity-driven policies, procedures and programs that advance PCOM’s mission

  • Advised the President’s cabinet on matters of diversity and provided perspective to foster a more pluralistic campus

Hampton University Minority Access to Research Careers (MARC) Program, Manager, 2015-2017                               
•    Assisted in designing and implementing a novel research-based undergraduate course in Biological Sciences
•    Measured the success of an inquiry-based model to increasing minority interest in biomedical training
•    Instructed, supervised and trained over 120 undergraduate students in laboratory techniques and cell-tissue culture
